Oleg Deripaska proposes to adopt the Environmental Code
Addressing a meeting of the RUIE bureau, Oleg Deripaska, CEO of Basic Element, called for the environmental regulation system to be reformed. He said environmental reforms could save approximately RUR 400 billion, which could then be invested in modernising and developing new technologies for industrial companies, while simultaneously increasing tax revenue by RUR 60 billion and saving the budget RUR 20 billion. Speaking at the opening session of the 2011 Wall Street Journal CEO Council, Oleg Deripaska outlined his views on the role and prospects of China and the economic opportunities in China for Russia, the U.S. and other countries.
In discussions with Oleg Deripaska, the opening session was chaired by Alan Murray, Deputy Managing Director at The Wall Street Journal, and included former U.S. Ambassador to China and U.S. presidential candidate Jon Huntsman and Chinese entrepreneur Zhang Xin, who were all asked to comment on why 2012 may be the best time to engage with China.
